Very cool – must see Yucca

I’ve been hoping GE would implement this feature. The ability to look at a location over time can be very revealing. Unfortunately A51 appears to have only two levels of images; the current image dated 14 Nov 2006 and one previous image dated 7 June 2002.

On the other hand have a look at Yucca (zoom in tight to the beginning of runway 1, hanger end). Seven images ranging in dates from 1998 to 2006 (Aug 1998, Dec 2002, Mar 2004, Feb 2005, Oct 2005, May 2006, Dec 2006) and they very nicely show the development of the new site. Work on the new runway can be seen to have started by 2002 with renewed activity in Feb 2005 (runway 19 end excavator working) , but then in the eight months to Oct 2005 there is a massive change and by May 2006 the place looks basically inhabitable. From May 2006 to Dec 2006 (just 7- 8 months later) even more development (to the south east) can be seen and there appears to be testing going on out of the first building.

Fun, NO?
