Reveille Peak in the background approaching from the East.

The mountain you are referring to is Reveille Peak located at: 37° 51.204'N, 116° 8.196'W. It is approximately 45 miles NNW of Area 51. You can view the trip report in the before 1999 section. I drove out to the mountain from both the East and West directions. Driving FROM the West there is only one dirt road that leads to the base of the mountain. And it looks like a rugged climb. There are no roads FROM the East but the terrain is flat as a billiard table until less than a mile to the base at: 37° 50.443'N, 116° 5.951'W.

You can also see a very small portion of the base (the Southern end) from Mt Irish. Joerg and I climbed the mountain in June of 2008 to document the radio facility on top. That climb was Tikaboo Peak x 2 1/2 and was not a good Area 51 view spot.

Best bet is Tikaboo Peak or perhaps the rented airplane flyby -because that sounds cool! :-)
