I was buzzed by an A-10 at the summit of a mountain in the Adirondacks. I could hear it coming, which makes this account surprising that it didn't make any noise. The one that got me was basically coming right at the summit head-on, so maybe the engine noise radiates forward better than oblique angles. He pulled up at the last second and banked toward his next waypoint somewhere.
Then I went and changed my shorts after dusting myself off....
