Sounds like the Cammos are having fun with the new pavement... :-) Seriously, I think they are probably testing out the limits of what can be done, in case of an emergency.

GL Rd used to be paved only about 1/2 mile past the old pre-1984 fence and the cattle guard. The new extension of the pavement is a little over 9 miles. It seems likely that for whatever reason funds became available to upgrade the Guard Shack area. This could be due to a new project and an expected increase in use. Only time will tell. A more mundane explanation would be leftover funds for 2009 that needed to be used. The old "use it or loose it"...
