It may have to do with the launch of a Chinese satellite last night. This message came through one of the Satellite Observation Groups I belong to:

China has launched a satellite, objects are 36088/9. (Found it first on Calsky so am not violating the Space-Track user agreement :-)

I can't find any confirmation of details at this stage, but am I correct that this is probably ShiJian X1-01 and its Long March rocket as per:

We would have some visible passes here but it is currently cloudy and this may be an issue for the next few days.
