Okay, it's late, I'm bored, and not sleepy. So, with time on my hands:

Reading again from the aforementioned Oxcart report, second-to-last page --

The Skunk Works was using Lockheed Constellations as shuttles from their facility in Burbank back and forth to the testing site at Groom (which is blocked out in the report). They list the total mileage logged by the Connies, as well as the total number of flights they made.

Total mileage: 3,669,900
Number of flights: 11,495

Now then, according to the Geobytes City Distance Tool, (geobytes.com/citydistancetool) it is 319 miles from Burbank to Alamo, Nevada (Alamo being the closest town to Rachel in the site's database, and Rachel obviously being the closest town to Groom).

3,669,900 divided by 11,495 equals 319.

Okay, not exactly a revelation, but like I said, it's late. :)

To bed now.

Chris M.
