Found the price for a Ford SUV was comparible to a mid-size car, we went with that. Dollar Rental car.

The camping out there is pretty much open. All the area or most of it is freeland open to all so your biggest issue is finding a hot spot to squat !

If you are going to be around tonight( Tuesday Sept. 1st) 8:30 EST would be willing to chat about your up coming trip. I also will be in Vegas for it.
