ER-2s have sometimes circled over a shuttle launch to get photos, I don't know if the WB-57 has the right optical package to do the same role. Also you would be surprised at the role the WB-57s sometimes perform. When they have operated from within Afghanistan in recent years they had their NASA markings removed. More symbolic than anything else but that US Marine Corps comms package should give clues.
