The A-12 had a different Nose Profile in both side view and plan view (Sharper).
The A-12 was shorter in length
The A-12 was a single seater operated by the C.I.A wheres as the SR-71 had a Pilot and RSO and was operated by the USAF.
The A-12's rear body finished in line with the rear wing wheres as the SR-71's extended about 6 foot.
A-12,60-6924 was fitted with a pair of J75's initially because the J58 was not ready. The J75 limiting the top speed the Mach 1+ and 924 was lated refitted the J58's

The A-12 was not a Prototype/concept of design to prove the SR-71.
