Don't forget that a lot of that fuel will be burned up during ground runs of the various experimental scramjet engines. Not all of it goes into the flight vehicles.

There were three X-43A vehicles and plans for a whole family of variants up through X-43D, I believe. Most of these were cancelled and the X-51A effectively became the logical follow-on to continue the scramjet research.
