The new track at Groom, located west of the softball field and recreational facilities is apparently for physical training (PT). Similar tracks can be found at Creech AFB (east side of the base), Nellis AFB (one is east of the golf course and another at Lake Mead Base - Nellis Area 2), Luke AFB, Davis-Monthan AFB, and others. Sometimes there is a single, one-mile-long track but often it will include interior turns for shorter lengths. I consulted with several people who had been stationed at some of these bases and asked them to look at satellite images of the various facilities. Those individuals who happened to be familiar with UAV operations laughed at the idea of using such a track for taxi training or anything similar.
