Groom Lake air show

The first officially-sanctioned public Groom Lake air show, held on Wednesday (June 24), was a rousing success. For security reasons, there was no open house, static display, or "black" aircraft, and the show itself was held offsite at Tikaboo Peak. Nevertheless, Det. 3, AFFTC, supplied a two-seat F-16 for an aerobatics and air-combat maneuver (ACM) demonstration and the G.H.O.S.T. Squadron provided a MH-60G PAVE HAWK for an aerial display of special operations tactics. Both crews demonstrated the kind of professionalism to be expected of "the best of the best," flying close enough to give spectators a thrill, yet not so close as to pose a safety hazard. Trip report to follow.
