Ok folks, I have some more information regarding the new Satellite Image. The cost for a 100sq.km. (min. order) area is $2,000 for 1 meter resolution, or $2,500 for 0.5 meter resolution. I would prefer the 0.5 meter, as it shows four times the detail. So far we have a little over $800 (after transaction fees) in donations. There is an option that would allow us to purchase a smaller area for $612.50, but it will not be available until the end of the year. Personally I would prefer to place an order for a custom .5 meter resolution image, but that depends on how much we can raise in donations. As with our 2007 satellite image, we will make a full-size copy of the image available to our readers who donate $100 or more towards the image. And of course clips of interesting areas will be posted on this web site. I would be interested to hear the opinion of our readers on how to proceed.
