I wonder to what effect the current economy is having on operations at Groom Lake. I can't imagine that with the current economy and the current administrations focus on our economy, Groom is on the top of any list for funding. Maybe "Black Project Budgets" are a bit more immune from the current economy. I honestly don't know. I was reading last week on the Edwards AFB website that they are sending units to Red Flag this year that usually don't participate as a way of testing and practicing while saving money. I guess it is cheaper for units to participate in Red Flag then live operations on their own. I really don't know anything about the budget at Area 51, but I would imagine it is suffering like everything else. Does anybody have any thoughts about this? I imagine the funding was plentiful during the Reagan era, I wonder what it is like now???
