I was there about 2 or 3 years ago. If I remember right it was about 9 to 11 miles off 375. If Iam off Iam sure Joerg has better numbers. The road was ok except for a few spots where I had to detour. Someone had rolled a huge boulder into the middle of the road, and I came across an old truck blocking the road. I just drove around them into the desert. 4 wheel drive is a big help in these situations. The sand on the birms that line the road is pretty soft. When you see the silver balls you are nearing the border so take care. We saw the choppper but dont think it was because of us as it didnt seem to pay attention and was probably doing its routine security pattern. As you can tell from the pic its not a good view spot. We went west across the desert about 3 miles looking for a better spot but didnt find anything. Be careful as their is no help if you break the vehicle.
