I believe you're being too skeptical of the situation. I highly doubt that it's a "rock", would you change your tone if it came from someone other than Glenn Campbell? As far as them testing it during the day, why shouldn't they? So some individual grabs a shot of it, exactly what are they able to make out, technological wise, from a photo? Nothing, you might be able to see the shape of the aircraft, but that is the extent of it. Don't forget that the B-2 was seen several times during the day, as was the "black wedged object" that was the F-117.
