Well, if todays meeting is any indication, it will happen here in Rachel. Pretty much the entire population of Rachel showed up for the meeting. Many residents had done extensive research, and brought up very valid concerns. In addition to many technical concerns, one of the residents had done a poll and found that 95% of the residents within a 25 mile radius around the prison are opposed to it. Regardless of all arguments, Mr. Toreson said that he did not care and he was going to move forward anyway. Easy for him to say, being not even a resident of the state of Nevada, let alone of the Rachel area. Even the representative of the county planning commission had to admit that he did not care about the people of Rachel. It was very clear whose side he was on. Money rules in Lincoln County. They even brought two armed representatives of the Alamo Sheriffs office for crowd control. The meeting was recorded on camera by our forum member Chad (thanks for coming all the way down here, Chad!) We are working on a way to make the footage available to our readers, together with footage of the Pioche meeting this coming Thursday.
