Gert,

I live in Las Vegas and often go to Rachel in my RV.
I can boondock just about anywhere for about a week
until I need to replace my water which is the first to go. I only carry about 46 gallons of water. Some of the newer RVs carry 80-100. I also run a Honda generator for TV, computer, internet, scanner, etc.
The generator is very efficient and 15 gallons of gas will suffice for running the generator for a week or more anywhere from 6-10 hrs a day, mostly evening stuff. My pickup runs on diesel and with the aux tank I carry 90 gallons of diesel, so I never run out. Since Rachel is surrounded by BLM land, you can camp/boondock just about anywhere. Your biggest obstacle will be your water and fuel supply. Gas and food in Alamo is a 100 mile round trip from the Rachel area. And of course you eventually have to empty the waste tank, and you can do that in Alamo. I have not seen anyone living out of their RV in the Rachel desert area for more than a few days to a week.

...Alan
