On a not very related tangent, thats exactly why at Burning Man, that no one is supposed to just dump water on the lake bed surface which is very similar to that of the above mentioned ones.

Enough water sitting, can cause copapods and other life to start hatching and begin its life cycle, which is supposed to be for a certain time of the year when it naturally happens for an extended time period, when there is water on the surface for a while, not just for a short time.
