The damage to the GAU could be as a result of a misfire or detonation of a round in the breech(es). That would have severely damaged the gun, blew off the barrels and also possibly disabled enough systems to prevent lowering it's wheels. The "net" is made with material that would have caused damage to the leading edges of the wing, so I don't see evidence of a net being used to catch the A10. A nice touch is the wheel chocks around the front right tire! Looks like some crew chief said "I don't CARE that it is sitting on its tail - the manual says ALL aircraft will be chocked - so put em' down!" Gotta love those line crews!
