Nobody seems to remember the fact that, whenever a new technological advance brought bold assertions that the "dogfight is dead," and that long-range stand-off capabilities would basically render any enemy aircraft impotent (the F-14, which proved itself to be a capable dogfighter, was originally designed to put those six Phoenix missles on six targets at 80-100 miles outand go home, after all), the experts would be proven wrong by the realities of air combat.

I'm no more "red" than you, but when it comes to an in-close knife fight between an F-22 and a very real and operational SU-27, I think it'd be very interesting to see what would happen.
