As far as getting up Powerlines Rd. in a two wheel drive its kind of hit and miss. At best the road isnt good. Ive made it up in a two wheel drive but it was hairy. Lots depends on what the weather has been as to the road conditions. The location is ideal for monitoring a scanner but not sure about ham work. The high spot(other than Tikaboo) is Queen City Summit. I believe their is a sign that says 6000ft. Its about 10 miles west of the Inn on 375. After you pass that point its all downhill into the Railroad Valley. You can pull off and park in the area without to much trouble. I think Joerg may have some info on other good spots for what you want to do.Iam sure he'll chime in.
