Short of getting wildfire-fighting Kevlar Advance pants like mine, which are not superlight, I can recommend the products of a company near where I live: "Snake and Thorn Resistant Upland Hunting Clothing" made by Warwick Mills (warwickmills.com and turtleskin.com), including their TurtleSkin SnakeArmor hunting pants, chaps, and camo gaiters. It's not cheap, but it's great stuff from the folks who maded the bouncing-airbag material on the Mars landers. JB737
