AF Plant 42 is a government-owned, contractor-operated facility for aircraft manufacturing, production, and testing. Major contractors at the site include Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing. The facility is divided into sections, called sites. Northrop grumman is producing the F-35 mid-fuselage assembly at Site 4. Lockheed Martin is conducting U-2 maintenance aand modification at Site 2. NASA just leased Site 9 for the agency's airborne science program.
