I should have been more specific. I think the test is not of UAVs or the data link themselves but probably tactics of using the two together. Without a satellite uplink I'd guess it's the 'micro-UAV' that's involved. Their launch and control, from what I've read, is by the troops on the scene, not by personal back at Creech so a sat-link is not needed.
