Videogame about Rachel, NV

On November 12th, this year, Midway will be releasing "Blacksite: Area 51" on PC, XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3. It is the third Area 51 game released by Midway across multiple consoles.

The game takes place almost entirely in Rachel, Nevada; albeit a very far-fetched representation of the real-life town.

This is the official website for the game:

There are some great screenshots and gameplay videos available on the website. I've played the demo on XBOX 360 and I was impressed! Fun controls, great graphics and smart computer-controlled teammates to help guide you through some of the nastier encounters.

Although the game is focused on the same alien-killing formula of its predecessors, it should be a blast to play. I'm hoping for a few nuggets of true-to-life Area 51 goodies to be scattered within.

I enjoyed the last Area 51 game and got a kick out of the tongue-and-cheek humor. For example, during a late stage raid plummeting into the depths of our favorite base, players happen across a gigantic underground cavern. Flipping on the lights reveals a sound stage with elaborate life-size models and props mimmicking the Apollo moon landing. I chuckled.
