Good point. But why go through the trouble of building a new underground fuel storage system? Do they have something underground that needs a lot of fuel? Is there something about the fuel that would be hard to hide with above-ground tanks? I checked my photos from 5/2000, and the tanks are still there.

Or perhaps they just don't need as much fuel any more? There are many indications that they focus a lot on electronics technology (stealth, radar jamming etc.) rather than aviation technology. There are a lot of relatively new radar sites around the ranges, and I have had several friends in Rachel complain about interference in their satellite TV systems, as well as the phone system, which uses a microwave link to Alamo.
