Summer nights are so clear that when you look up in the stars you can feel as though your right smack in the middle of the galaxy and you can reach up and grab a star cluster.
In the winter the valley floors fill with ice cold fog. You can climb a hill a rise above it. It will be 15 degrees in the fog below and 60 degrees in the crystal blue sky above. You sit and watch the fog roll up and down the hill sides like ocean waves and feel the temperature drop when the waves engulf you.
The first time I experienced that, I just sat there for hours.
