The nearest decent size base I know of is Lyncham (Old ww2 name) or Lyneham as it is known today. Home of the Hercy Birds (Hercules Transport).

I moved from the UK to Texas a year ago - it's amazing how much I have forgot in a short space of time. Anyway, Lyneham is only about 60 miles south of the sighting.
