I think the Perseid shower is in the wrong direction, i.e. the base is to the west and the shower is to the north-east if you are along the ET highway. Mount Stirling might make a better viewing location if you want to watch the Groom airspace and the shower. Or Mount Charleston, but you are still close enough to get light from Vegas. The view from Basecamp would be excellent.
