The guard shack near 95 is for the Tolicha Peak Electronic Combat Range. There is a sign for it on route 95 that reads RSS/TPECR. RSS stands for Range Support Services. It is not related to Area 51. There is an additional gate for Electronic Combat South Range, also called EC South. There is no sign for that road.

For the other facility, go to "search" at the side of the page and enter Slater Lake.

You go through a lot of miles exploring the west side of the range. What is there is not Area 51 related, but still interesting. Route 95 has plenty of speed traps.

In general, most roads can be explored until you hit a guard shack, but there are many shacks that are behind the border. This is especially true at the front gate on Groom Lake Road. You need to look for signs, not facilities.

CU, Black F150 and myself were on the Cedar Gate road once when a family minivan whizzed by us, going right to the Cedar gate, which is behind the border. The car was turned around without incident. I suspect the guy saw a shortcut to Tonopah on a map without realizing he would have to drive through the Tonopah Test Range. They recently added a road sign for the Cedar Gate on the ET Highway.
