As far as the ET imagery goes, the Air Force was the first to get the joke and run with it. Lots of Air Force patches have the alien on them. These include patches for the UHF Follow-On (UFO) satellite, B-2 radar cross-section tests at Groom Lake, Aerospace Integration Center, AF TENCAP Special Applications, USAF Test Pilot School Class 97B, 3rd Space Operations Squadron E-Flight, and more. We are just jumping on the bandwagon.

This new patch was designed for insiders at Groom as well as for Area 51 afficionados. It spoofs the whole Area 51/UFO myth and blends it with popular culture ("What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas"), with a few insider details worked into the art.

I hope it is at least as popular as the 50th Anniversary patch which was itself designed as much for insiders as for fans.
