NASA News Release:

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Nov. 2 – Good weather brought the space shuttle to California’s Mojave Desert.

A little over a week later, clear skies are making it possible for it to go back to its Florida home.

The Discovery space shuttle took off as planned this morning from Edwards Air Force Base, about a week after high winds prevented it from landing at Cape Canaveral in Florida.

The shuttle is scheduled to stop for refueling at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma.

Discovery’s return mission is estimated to cost between $750,000 and $900,000. If the weather cooperates, Discovery is scheduled to arrive in Florida sometime tomorrow.
