How was that contrail pictured? Satellites in geosynchronous orbit are at the Equator, not very close to Groom lake. From that distance, it could have been a big ol' jet airliner leaving from Vegas. Satellites that fly directly over Groom orbit the Earth in 1 to 2 hours, usually. This means that the same satellite can only be in the field of view of the Western US for 15 to 30 minutes, at most. Not long enough to be able to watch that contrail of yours. I'm a bit skeptical.
