I remembered one advantage of the BC996T over the BC396T. It has to do with multiple sites, i.e. networked trunked systems. The Nevada Test Site is one example of such a system, where there are 11 different sites. On a Pro-96, you can enter multiple control channels in one bank, i.e. the various control channels for each site. As long as there were two conventional frequencies (i.e. not a control channel) between each control channel, the scanner would lock onto which ever control channels were active. The 396 had a problem with this, but the 996 was tweaked to get around this problem.
