The fighter aircraft will be on your "sector" defense frequencies. On the left coast, this is known as "big foot". [Also known as Western Air Defense Sector, or WADS.] I don't know which center New York is in, but you should google "huntress" or "giant killer". Throw air defense into the search. [Obviously, if you were on the left coast, I'd rattle off the frequencies.] The air defense sectors are on repeaters in the UHF mil air band. They will have an AWACS in the air and send fighters to intercept bogies. It's kind of like Red Flag, except the enemy is anyone that violates the air space.
