Hank and Chris are right about bugs and snakes. I've been out there in early summer and seen no critters except the desert hares, cows and wild horses on the roads....Be Careful!...No Fences. Take water....More water...NO, MORE WATER!...It's cheap unless you don't have it!
I also recommend camping at the parking area just to the right before the signs on Groom Lake Road. Several fire pits there already and sometimes some wood(Need to take your own, not much in desert). Another plus to camping near the Front Gate is the Camo's will watch over you all night.....safest place for miles!
