They kept most of them outside. Each of the three hangars only accomodated one airplane. There was no reason to conceal them indoors as the Watertown Airstrip at Groom Lake had been repeatedly identified in official documents as the site of U-2 operations for "NACA weather research." (Note the bogus NACA markings on the airplanes.)
