The NTS monitors for traces of radioactivity in the water table. This is more serious at the test site, where the plume is heading westward to Pahrump.

I haven't googled Project Faultless in a while, but generally the environmental reports are on the net. There are official accounts of the blast that include broken windows in Elko. The public was not allowed to view the blast directly, but had to watch at Basecamp on closed circuit TV.

BTW, when you were in the part of land that sunk, it was due to the blast. That I recall in one of the NTS documents. The land is not suitable for nuclear testing. The land was flush with the top of that round steel marker before the blast.
