That's the odd part was that they were very large, thck illuminated vertical rings - not like explosives of any kind. The distance couldn't have been more than 20 miles away since they were directly to my left, a bit higher than eye level, but before the mountain range along the 15. Very low in my opinion, so I thought at the time, because it looked like they were developing in a direction towards the mountains.

It's been several years now. I may be wrong about the distance to stateline. From memory I believe that it was near the turn off for some county radio station / gasstation that's along the 15. I'll ask my wife (vegas native) she'll know the name of the exit.
