The dudes do a tour every few hours, so they may light up your vehicle when they go past (and of course harvest your plate number).

The gravel is just on the hairy edge of being able to scan the base. You can hear the VOR there, but not very well. You can certainly see vehicles heading to and from the base.

If you park at
N37.42207 W115.37762
you can hear the VOR. You can spot a light near the guard shack. I'm not sure if it is a light on the shack itself, or on the hill behind the shack.
