Some tips to add.
Dont drive further than you can walk. Should your vehicle become disabled you will have to walk back to the highway.
Let someone know where you will be and for how long.
Carry more water than you think you will need.
Dress accordingly, 100 during day, 60 during night not uncommon.
Bring lots of water.
Critters can be found there. Red ants, scorpions and snakes live there. Be Aware!
If you are not familiar with desert camping, buy a book on it and read it.
Dont forget lots of water.
Leave the site cleaner than you found it.
I dont mean to discourage anyone, just be prepared. This part of the country hasn't changed much in eons, thats why it is worth the effort to enjoy it.
