Actually I'm in favor of the U.S. military having the nastiest, fastest, and most effective chemical agents in the world. When we had the world's best nuclear stockpile, the idea of "mutual assured destruction" prevented the use of them. If we are the good guys and dump our advantage just to look humane, they what's to stop a State-sponsored chemical attack against the U.S., knowing that it cannot suffer a like-for-like response. We WERE going to gas 25 Japanese cities prior to the invasion of the home islands, but the atomic-bomb induced capitutation, so gas has been in our warfighting strategies for decades. Let's maintain our edge, and use the existing technologies of superhot cremation of older stockpiles. I've talked to individuals that have successfully been engaged in fruitful research projects that would take ANY chemical or biological agent and burn it so hot that it's effects are nonexisistant. Whay needs to be sent in is not the Marines, but a platoon of auditors to find out what happened to our money.
