Welcome to the DLR forum, and thanks for your post. Very good point here. There are many remains of old projects on the NTS, going back to the early 1950's. Not sure when the power line to Area 19 was built (anyone has an answer to that?), but it appears that at some point there was activity in that area.

One thing I feel should be pointed out is the fact that the powerline, which enters the Ranges at a very high capacity, "thins out" considerably as in moves further north towards Area 19. This power line is the backbone for most of the NTS power supply. In fact it also supplies power to Area 51. So all that power is not going up to Area 19, and was never intended to.

OTOH I should mention that when I asked the tour guide on an NTS tour a few years ago to see Area 19 he said this was not possible. Asked whether the area was classified, he simply replied "Yes".
