From the DoD video it looks like the PLA Interceptors fly so close we wouldn't even need an escort, just cut a hole in the fuselage and mount a waist .50, then auction off the honor of manning the gun during flights. I'd ante up. In all seriousness, I wonder why we couldn't mount stingers or AIM-9J's on the planes' hardpoints. If the ARIES II is nible enough to chase a PLA interceptor all over the sky and knock it down with it's props, give it a good air-to-air capability, and we can just cancel the whole F-22 program. OK that part I'm not serious about.
