Flat Top is a fairly easy climb - no steeper than parts of the Tikaboo climb and much shorter. I've never been able to see any of the base structures from there, but you might be able to see aircraft taking off and heading north or northwest from runway 32 - this would include some of the shuttle flights from Groom to Base-camp. The mountains northwest of Las Vegas, besides being about 50+ miles away, would have any direct view of the base blocked by the Papoose Range. You can view Papoose lake from those mountains, with Mt. Sterling probably offering the best view
