Transportation to the Groom Lake facility in 1955 consisted of a USAF C-54M transport operated by the Air Force Military Airlift and Transportation Service (MATS). After a crash on Mt. Charleston in November 1955, Lockheed began transporting its workers primarily via company Constellation and C-47 aircraft.

The EG&G "JANET" operation apparently began in 1972 with one DC-6. Another DC-6 was added in 1977. The first three 737 aircraft joined the fleet in 1980 and the DC-6 aircraft were retired a few years later. Three more 737s joined the fleet in 1985.

The first two Beech 1900s joined the fleet in 1988 and three Beech 200s were added in 1990.

When I first saw the EG&G fleet in Las Vegas in the late 1980s, they were parked near a few trailers on a parking ramp next to the Hughes Air Terminal at the southwest corner of McCarran Airport. The operation moved to the new JANET terminal in the mid 1990s.
