when you fly IFR you are in constant communication with different flight cemters that provide "flight following" (nagging) if you do not happen to maintain your assigned altitude or heading. Flying VFR is fun, but no longer very practical if you are doing something beside local you-hoo maneuvers. IFR flying is like taking your Mother-in-Law in the right seat.
