You have to go to a military NIC to trace military sites. If you go to www.networksolutions.com, you can eventually find a link to the military NIC, but here it is directly:

http://www.nic.mil

You need to go to this page to let the feds sniff you, which is only fair because you will be sniffing them. Enter the number in the area above "search whois". For the site you were interested in fix....mil, enter the number 198.32.136.88

The "tracert" shows how you get to the computer, while the "whois" gives you information about the server or who owns the domain name.

If you have a shell account, you can run many of these commands directly. However, most ISPs are dropping shell accounts since they are security risks.
