I never did get a reply from the guy doing GRE software, but I contacted GREs beta tester and he is pretty sure the Pro-97 won't work after the refarming without a firmware update. This is really a major screwup. However, if Radio Shack dumps these scanners after the refarming, it may be a way to get a cheap mil air scanner with "signal stalker." However, if you don't have a P25 capable scanner and want to monitor military trunk systems, I'd still say to go for the Pro-96. You can modify it to cover the mil air band with Don Starr's software. Granted, this will not be as good as having a real communications grade radio (MVT7100 etc.)
